PM Modi Predicts BJP Triumph in West Bengal, Criticizes Trinamool Congress
  • PublishedMay 28, 2024

Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government has jailed BJP workers ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Amid predictions of a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) victory, Modi forecasted the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “maximum success” in Mamata Banerjee-ruled West Bengal.

Modi asserted that the TMC is battling for survival, predicting a one-sided victory for the BJP. He highlighted the BJP’s significant gains in Bengal, from 3 seats in the last assembly elections to 77 in 2021, and from 2 to 18 seats in the 2019 general elections. The BJP’s vote share also surged to over 40% compared to TMC’s 43%.

Modi emphasized the increasing support for the BJP despite alleged TMC atrocities, noting that more people are voting for the BJP.

Regarding Odisha, Modi stated the BJP aims to form a government and expressed his willingness to sacrifice personal political relations for the state’s future. He stressed that good relations with political leaders do not equate to compromising the state’s welfare.

Modi has set an ambitious target of 400 seats for the BJP and its allies in the upcoming elections, necessitating significant victories in Bengal and southern states.
