Cristiano Ronaldo Sets Goal-Scoring Record in Saudi Pro League Finale
  • PublishedMay 28, 2024

Cristiano Ronaldo finished the Saudi Pro League by setting a new season goal-scoring record with 35 goals, surpassing Abderrazak Hamdallah’s 2019 record. Ronaldo scored twice in Al-Nassr’s 4-2 victory over Al-Ittihad, lifting his tally and celebrating wildly after a second-half header. Despite Al-Nassr finishing second to unbeaten champions Al-Hilal, Ronaldo’s performance was a standout, featuring four hat tricks and overcoming a suspension.

Al-Hilal’s dominance, even without Neymar due to an ACL injury, was marked by an unprecedented 34-game winning streak. Coach Jorge Jesus praised the team’s talent and unity. Al-Ittihad, the defending champions, struggled despite star signings like Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante, finishing fifth and leading to Nuno Santo’s dismissal as coach. Al-Ahli secured third place, bolstered by Roberto Firmino’s late-season goals.

Ronaldo’s season isn’t over yet, as he aims to secure a trophy in the King’s Cup final against Al-Hilal and prepares to represent Portugal in the 2024 Euros.
