Pune Porsche Crash: Teen’s Blood Samples Replaced Under Doctor’s Instructions
Pune police revealed that blood samples of the 17-year-old involved in the Porsche crash were replaced with someone else’s samples, allegedly under the instructions of a doctor from Sassoon General Hospital. The move came after the boy’s father reportedly offered incentives to the doctor. Consequently, the report showed no traces of alcohol in the teen’s blood.
The crash, which occurred on May 19 in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area, resulted in the deaths of two IT professionals. The teenager, suspected to be driving under the influence, was arrested.
Dr Ajay Taware, head of Sassoon General Hospital’s Forensic Medicine department, and Dr Shrihari Halnor, the hospital’s chief medical officer, have been arrested. Investigations revealed that the teen’s father made multiple calls to Dr Taware, who instructed to replace the blood samples.
Police took additional precautions, obtaining another sample from the teen for DNA sampling, which did not match the manipulated report from Sassoon Hospital. The investigation is ongoing to determine whose blood samples were used to replace the juvenile’s.
In another development, realtor Vishal Agrawal, the teen’s father, has been granted custody from Yerwada Central Jail. He and his father, Surendra Agrawal, were accused of kidnapping and wrongfully confining their driver, allegedly pressuring him to take the blame for the crash.
