Shah Accuses Kejriwal of Turning Punjab into ‘ATM of Corruption’ in Ludhiana Rally
  • PublishedMay 27, 2024

During a rally in Ludhiana supporting BJP’s candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of using Punjab as an “ATM of corruption” to fund his legal battles. Shah criticized the Congress and AAP, alleging they collude elsewhere but turn into foes in Punjab. He urged voters to support Bittu, promising him a significant role if BJP secures a majority. Shah also targeted Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, asserting governance isn’t his forte and accusing his administration of incompetence and broken promises.

Shah condemned the alleged corruption in Punjab, stating the state had become a hotbed of malpractice, especially under the AAP government. He criticized the AAP for purportedly misusing Central schemes and exploiting Punjab’s resources for political gain.

In response, AAP’s Harpal Singh Cheema hit back, alleging BJP’s moral bankruptcy to address corruption given its involvement in the electoral bond scam and rewarding allegedly corrupt politicians with high posts. Cheema claimed that BJP’s misdeeds would be exposed once out of power.

Shah also addressed other issues, including the drug menace in Punjab, promising to establish an NCB office to combat it. He reiterated BJP’s stance on PoK belonging to India and lauded PM Modi for opening the Kartarpur Corridor. Despite AAP’s rebuttal, Shah’s remarks intensify the political discourse in Punjab ahead of the elections.
