BJP Issues Show-Cause Notice to Jayant Sinha for Absence During Polling and Alleged Party Image Damage
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a show-cause notice to former Union minister Jayant Sinha for his absence during Monday’s polling in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh constituency. The notice accuses Sinha of not participating in the Lok Sabha election campaign and “maligning” the party’s image, noting that he did not cast his vote in the ongoing general elections.
BJP state general secretary Aditya Sahu criticized Sinha’s lack of involvement, especially after Manish Jaiswal was declared the party’s candidate for the Hazaribagh seat. Sahu stated, “The party’s image has been maligned due to your conduct,” and requested an explanation from Sinha within two days, following instructions from state BJP president Babulal Marandi.
In March, Sinha had asked BJP president JP Nadda to relieve him from direct electoral duties to focus on combating global climate change. Despite his request, Sinha assured he would continue working with the party on economic and governance issues.
Jayant Sinha, son of Trinamool Congress leader Yashwant Sinha, is the current MP from Hazaribagh and has served in various ministerial roles from 2014 to 2019. He is notable for his work on the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, which significantly expanded India’s operational airports.
