Israeli Airstrike Kills Senior Palestinian Militant in Jenin
Delhi Police have arrested Bibhav Kumar, the personal assistant of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, for allegedly assaulting AAP MP Swati Maliwal inside Kejriwal’s house. Maliwal accused Kumar of repeatedly slapping and kicking her in the stomach and pelvic area. The police have booked Kumar under stringent sections of the IPC and arrested him from the chief minister’s residence.
While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is supporting Kumar, claiming Maliwal targeted Kejriwal at the BJP’s behest, Delhi Minister Atishi accused the BJP of influencing the case. Atishi claimed that the BJP used an old Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) case against Maliwal to pressure her into filing the FIR.
Kumar has also filed a police complaint against Maliwal, alleging abuse and intent of assault. His lawyer stated that Kumar will cooperate with the investigation. In response, the BJP criticized AAP for the alleged assault, with spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla stating that misconduct and disinformation have become commonplace for the Kejriwal-led party. He compared the incident to Draupadi’s disrobing, accusing AAP of character assassination.
The case has sparked controversy, with allegations and counter-allegations between AAP and BJP, highlighting the ongoing political tensions in Delhi.
