Woman Arrested for Taking Corpse to Bank for Loan Breaks Silence
In a bizarre incident in Brazil, a woman was arrested after attempting to secure a loan at a bank with the corpse of her uncle in a wheelchair. She spent 16 days in prison before being released on bail. Now, speaking out for the first time, she denies all allegations, claiming she only realized her uncle was deceased when an ambulance worker confirmed it.
The woman, identified as De Souza, recounted her ordeal on a Brazilian TV program, expressing the difficulty of being away from her family and refuting claims portraying her as a “monster.” She asserted that she has no memory of the incident and suggested that it might have been due to the effect of the medication she was taking, including a sleeping pill called Zolpidem.
Backing her claims, her son Lucas Nunes revealed that she has been struggling with disorders. According to De Souza, her uncle allegedly wanted the loan, and she emphasized that she did not need the money, as her family had always supported him financially.
Contrary to reports, De Souza clarified that her uncle was not wheelchair-bound, and she was not his caretaker. She described him as an independent individual who made his own decisions.
The case has garnered widespread attention for its peculiarity, raising questions about the woman’s mental state and the circumstances surrounding her actions. Authorities continue to investigate the incident while De Souza maintains her innocence.
