PM Modi to Address Three Election Rallies in Kolkata Amidst Tight Security Measures
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kolkata ahead of the Lok Sabha elections has garnered significant attention as he gears up to address three rallies in West Bengal on Friday. Arriving in Kolkata on Thursday evening, PM Modi went directly to the Raj Bhavan, where he was welcomed by West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose, staying overnight at the Governor’s house.
PM Modi’s itinerary includes public meetings in Krishnanagar, Purba Bardhaman, and Bolpur Lok Sabha constituencies, reflecting the BJP’s intensified campaign efforts in the state. In anticipation of his visit, the Kolkata traffic police have implemented restrictions on vehicle movement and parking, with goods vehicles allowed entry only during specific hours.
The heightened security measures extend to Governor CV Ananda Bose’s schedule, who cut short a personal visit to Kerala to return to Kolkata amidst PM Modi’s visit. Over the past weeks, PM Modi has actively engaged in election rallies across various constituencies in West Bengal, highlighting the intense electoral battle between the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress.
The political discourse in West Bengal has intensified, with PM Modi accusing the TMC government of aiding Bangladeshi infiltrators, while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserts that the Left, Congress, and BJP are collectively challenging the TMC’s dominance. With West Bengal witnessing a closely contested electoral landscape, PM Modi’s rallies signify the BJP’s determined efforts to make inroads into the state’s political dynamics.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the TMC emerged victorious with 22 seats, closely followed by the BJP with 18 seats, while the Congress secured two seats. As PM Modi’s rallies unfold, the electoral narrative in West Bengal continues to evolve amidst fierce political rhetoric.
