Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) has announced a strategic partnership with SpaceX to introduce Starlink’s satellite-based broadband services in India. This collaboration aims to enhance internet connectivity, especially in remote and underserved regions.
The agreement, however, is contingent upon SpaceX securing the necessary regulatory approvals to offer Starlink in India. Once approved, Jio will distribute Starlink’s broadband solutions through its retail outlets and online platforms, ensuring widespread accessibility for consumers and businesses.
Jio has also committed to establishing a robust support system for Starlink customers, including installation, activation, and customer service assistance. This initiative aligns with Jio’s broader mission of expanding high-speed internet access across India.
According to the company, Starlink will complement existing services like JioFiber and JioAirFiber, offering seamless connectivity in even the most challenging locations. The satellite internet service is expected to provide reliable and affordable broadband solutions, further strengthening India’s digital infrastructure.
Jio and SpaceX are also exploring additional areas of collaboration to optimize their infrastructure and drive digital growth in the country.
Mathew Oommen, Group CEO of Reliance Jio, emphasized the company’s commitment to digital inclusivity, stating, “Ensuring that every Indian, no matter where they live, has access to affordable and high-speed broadband remains Jio’s top priority.”
