Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded India’s potential as a hotspot for global live concerts, referencing the record-breaking success of Coldplay’s recent performances in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Speaking at the Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 in Bhubaneswar, he emphasized how live events can transform the nation’s economy by boosting tourism and creating employment opportunities.

“Big artists from around the world are being drawn to India. The concert economy holds immense promise, not just for tourism but also for job creation across event management, artist grooming, and security,” Modi said, urging states and private players to develop the necessary infrastructure to nurture this sector.

Coldplay’s five-concert India leg, part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, culminated in a record-setting performance at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, with 1,34,000 attendees—the largest ticketed concert in India’s history. The band also hosted three electrifying shows in Mumbai, thrilling fans nationwide.

Looking ahead, PM Modi spotlighted India’s upcoming debut as host of the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) next month. He described WAVES as a landmark opportunity to showcase India’s creative prowess on a global stage and strengthen the economy through the burgeoning audio-visual sector.

“These events are proof of India’s rising stature as a cultural and creative hub. The possibilities in this industry are endless, and I encourage all stakeholders to seize this moment,” he concluded.
