Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threat Emails for Second Time in a Week
  • PublishedDecember 13, 2024

Four schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails early Friday, prompting a multi-agency search involving the police, fire department, bomb squads, and dog units. This marks the second such incident in a week, following similar threats sent to 44 schools on December 9, later deemed hoaxes.

Threats were reported at Bhatnagar International School, Cambridge School, DPS Amar Colony, South Delhi Public School, Delhi Police Public School, and Venkateshwar Global School. The emails, sent after midnight, referenced routine school events like parent-teacher meetings before issuing warnings of explosions on Friday and Saturday.

Principals promptly alerted authorities, and parents were advised to collect children or keep them home. Cambridge School’s principal announced online classes for the day, assuring parents of safety measures.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal criticized the Delhi Police and Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the recurring threats, highlighting their impact on children’s education and mental well-being.

On December 9, mass evacuations were carried out across 44 schools following similar emails, causing widespread panic. Authorities later declared the threats hoaxes, but security remains heightened in Delhi’s schools. Investigations into the source of the threats are ongoing.
