Tony Blair Predicts India Will Emerge as Global Superpower by 2050.
  • PublishedOctober 2, 2024

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has projected that by 2050, a new global order will be shaped by three dominant superpowers: the United States, China, and India. In an interview with The Straits Times, Blair emphasized that the rise of India alongside the U.S. and China will create a multipolar world, urging nations to adapt to this shift.

“By the middle of this century, America, China, and probably India will be the key global powers,” said Blair, highlighting the need for countries to build strategic alliances with these superpowers. Blair noted the growing complexities of the global landscape compared to his time in office, when the U.S. held uncontested dominance.

Blair also touched upon escalating tensions in the Middle East, warning of potential conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, and reaffirmed his support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. He suggested China could play a pivotal role in peace efforts and called on Beijing to exercise influence over its ally, Iran.

The former Prime Minister’s insights underscore the evolving dynamics of global power, with India positioned as a key player by 2050.
