As the festive season approaches, Indian Railways is set to provide enhanced services to travelers by operating nearly 6,000 special trains. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that a total of 5,975 special trains have been scheduled to facilitate the journey for over one crore passengers during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivals.

This initiative aims to accommodate the expected surge in passenger traffic, particularly for routes connecting to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, which traditionally see a heavy influx of travelers during the festive period. In addition to the special trains, the Railways has added extra general coaches to 108 trains and sanctioned a total of 12,500 coaches to manage the increased demand effectively.

Minister Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of these arrangements, stating, “This will facilitate more than one crore passengers to go home during this puja rush.” The Durga Puja festivities commence on October 9, followed by Diwali on October 31, and Chhath Puja on November 7 and 8.

With the introduction of these special trains, Indian Railways reaffirms its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and convenient travel options for all passengers during this joyous season.
