Johnny Depp to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at Rome Film Festival; Directorial Film Modi to Premiere.
Acclaimed actor Johnny Depp will be honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 19th edition of the Rome Film Festival, taking place from October 16 to 27, 2024. Alongside this honor, Depp’s directorial venture, Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness, will be screened in the festival’s Grand Public section.
Modi is a biographical film about Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, featuring Riccardo Scamarcio in the titular role. Known for his modernist portraits and nudes, Modigliani’s rebellious spirit and tumultuous life are captured in this visually compelling narrative. Set in Paris, the film follows the artist during three critical days as he grapples with the law, his desire to abandon his career, and the support of fellow artists like Maurice Utrillo and Chaim Soutine.
This marks Depp’s return to the director’s chair after his 1997 film The Brave. His latest work has generated significant buzz, being one of his first major projects since the high-profile defamation case involving ex-wife Amber Heard.
Modi will release in Italy following its Rome premiere, with Be Water Productions partnering with Maestro Distribution and Medusa Film.
