Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Apologizes for Remarks on K Kavitha’s Bail After Supreme Court Reprimand

Hyderabad, August 30, 2024: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has issued an apology for his remarks regarding the bail granted to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha in the Delhi liquor policy case. This apology comes a day after the Supreme Court reprimanded Reddy for suggesting a “deal” between the BJP and BRS to secure Kavitha’s bail.

In a statement posted on X, Reddy expressed his deep respect for the Indian Judiciary, clarifying that his previous comments were misinterpreted. “I have the highest regard and full faith in the Indian Judiciary,” Reddy stated. He emphasized that the press reports from August 29, 2024, wrongly attributed statements to him, creating an impression that he was questioning the judicial wisdom of the Hon’ble Court. “I reiterate that I am a firm believer in the judicial process,” Reddy continued, offering an unconditional apology for any misunderstanding caused by his remarks.

The Telangana Chief Minister further stressed that his comments were taken out of context and reaffirmed his “unconditional respect and the highest regard for the Judiciary and its independence.”

Reddy’s apology aims to dispel any doubts about his commitment to the integrity of the judicial system, following the controversy sparked by his earlier statements.
