PM Modi to Embark on Historic Journey Aboard Ukraine’s Luxury Train Force One
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make a landmark visit to Ukraine on August 23, 2024, aboard the renowned Train Force One, a symbol of both luxury and diplomacy amid conflict. This high-profile journey marks the first visit by an Indian leader to Ukraine since the onset of the Russian invasion in February 2022.
Train Force One, a specially designed luxury train, will transport PM Modi through a war-torn landscape, ensuring top-level security and comfort for the 10-hour journey each way. The train, known for its impressive features and history, has previously hosted global leaders including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
This unique mode of travel underscores India’s balanced diplomatic approach, following PM Modi’s recent visit to Moscow. The train’s interiors include wood-paneled cabins, a long meeting table, a sofa, a TV, and comfortable sleeping arrangements, designed to cater to the needs of its distinguished passengers.
The journey also reflects the Ukrainian railway system’s resilience, led by Alexander Kamyshin, who has ensured the train’s operations amidst the ongoing conflict. Diesel engines replace electric ones to maintain functionality during power outages caused by Russian attacks.
PM Modi will arrive in Kyiv on the morning of August 23, meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and return to Poland the same day. This visit highlights India’s commitment to dialogue and peace, marking a significant chapter in international diplomacy.
