The box office has witnessed a challenging weekend for two major releases, John Abraham’s “Vedaa” and Akshay Kumar’s “Khel Khel Mein,” as both films struggle to make an impact amid the overwhelming success of “Stree 2.” Despite high expectations, neither film has managed to cross the Rs 5 crore mark during their opening weekend, marking a slow start for both.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, on Saturday, August 17, “Vedaa” earned approximately Rs 2.40 crore, while “Khel Khel Mein” fared slightly better with Rs 2.85 crore. After three days, “Vedaa” has collected Rs 10.50 crore, while “Khel Khel Mein” has earned Rs 9.95 crore. These figures highlight the struggle both films are facing at the box office.

In contrast, Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s horror-comedy “Stree 2” has dominated the box office, grossing an impressive Rs 144 crore since its release and is on track to reach the Rs 200 crore milestone by Monday.

Khel Khel Mein, also featuring Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, and Ammy Virk, opened on August 15 with Rs 5.05 crore but saw a significant drop on Friday, earning only Rs 2.05 crore. For Akshay Kumar, this continues a challenging phase, with a series of underperforming films since his 2021 hit Sooryavanshi.

John Abraham, who last tasted success with “Pathaan” in 2023, is also facing difficulties as a leading actor. The box office performance of “Vedaa” underscores the tough competition in the current cinema landscape.
