Nikkhil Advani Clarifies: ‘Vedaa’ Postponed for Strategic Reasons, Not Due to Censor Board

August 13, 2024 – Director Nikkhil Advani has clarified that the release of his highly anticipated film Vedaa was strategically rescheduled from July 12 to August 15, not due to issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Advani explained that the decision to move the film’s release to Independence Day was a deliberate choice. Vedaa, which stars Sharvari, John Abraham, and Abhishek Banerjee, has received a U/A certificate with nine cuts from the CBFC. Advani expressed his appreciation for the board’s decision, highlighting their recognition of the film’s significant content and universal appeal.

Advani shared, “When I wrote and edited Vedaa, I anticipated that certain elements might be challenging. The film, while a large-scale commercial venture, tells a profound and difficult story. The CBFC’s decision to award a U/A certificate shows their belief that the film should be accessible to a broad audience.”

He added, “We had anticipated a potential delay due to the certification process, which is why we applied eight weeks in advance. The shift from July to August was a strategic move, aligning with our marketing plans and leveraging the Independence Day release window. Previous successful releases like Satyamev Jayate and Batla House on August 15 have paved the way for this decision.”

Vedaa is set to clash with Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein at the box office on August 15, 2024.
