Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh Secure Bronze Medal in 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team at Paris 2024
Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh have clinched the bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking India’s second shooting medal of the Games. The duo secured their spot on the podium at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, adding to Manu Bhaker’s earlier bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event.
In a compelling performance, Bhaker and Singh led from the third series with a score of 4-2, eventually extending their lead to 8-2 by the fifth series. Despite a late push from South Korea, who closed the gap to 10-6 after the eighth series, the Indian pair held their nerve to win 16-8 in the bronze medal match.
This victory marks Sarabjot Singh’s first Olympic medal and establishes Manu Bhaker as the first Indian to win multiple medals in a single Olympic Games. Bhaker joins an elite group of Indian athletes—Norman Pritchard, Sushil Kumar, and PV Sindhu—who have won multiple medals at the Summer Games.
Manu and Sarabjot finished third in the qualification round with 580 points and 20 perfect shots. They overcame the Korean team, Xue Li and Wonho Lee, who had 579 points and 18 perfect shots. The Turkish team of Sevval Ilayda Tarhan and Yusuf Dikec, who matched the Olympic record with 582 points, will compete against Serbia’s Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec in the gold medal match.
