Man Accused of Killing Woman in Bengaluru PG Arrested in Madhya Pradesh
Bengaluru, July 27, 2024 – The man accused of the brutal murder of 22-year-old Kriti Kumari inside a women’s hostel in Bengaluru’s Koramangala has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh. The accused, identified as Abhishek, was apprehended on Saturday after fleeing the city following the crime committed on the night of July 23.
Kriti Kumari, who worked at a private company, was attacked in Bhargavi Staying Homes For Ladies in Venkatreddy Layout, located a short distance from the South East Deputy Commissioner of Police’s office and the Koramangala police station. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 PM, when Abhishek allegedly sneaked into the hostel and slit Kriti’s throat near her room on the third floor. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
Chilling CCTV footage captured the horrifying sequence of events, showing Abhishek approaching Kriti’s room, knocking on the door, and attacking her as she opened it. The footage reveals Kriti’s struggle to resist the assault before being overpowered by Abhishek, who then fled the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Abhishek was a known acquaintance, adding a layer of complexity to the case. The police have also criticized the hostel owner for negligence, which may have contributed to the incident.
A murder case was promptly registered, and a dedicated police team was formed to apprehend the suspect. Abhishek will be brought back to Bengaluru for questioning to determine the motive behind the gruesome act.
The arrest brings a crucial development in the ongoing investigation, with authorities committed to ensuring justice for Kriti Kumari and her family.
