The delay in announcing the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET UG 2024) results by the National Testing Agency (NTA) has caused significant disruptions across academic institutions and among students nationwide. The uncertainty surrounding the result announcement has created anxiety among students eagerly awaiting admission to undergraduate programs.
Institutes dependent on CUET UG scores for admissions are grappling with the impact of this delay. JNU Vice Chancellor Santishree D Pandit expressed concern, stating, “The delay has jeopardized our academic calendar, leading to the need for three separate academic calendars for Masters, UG, and PhD programs.”
Students are facing the possibility of delayed academic starts, with some considering alternative colleges that do not require CUET scores. The financial implications, including potential losses on hostel and tuition fees, add to the growing anxiety. Mumbai-based Somaiya Vidyavihar University, which had planned its admissions based on CUET scores, is already conducting induction programs, leaving many students in limbo.
Major General Bhaskar Chakravarty, Director of Admissions at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, noted, “While we maintain our planned schedule, the post-COVID disruptions have pushed academic sessions beyond their traditional timelines. We are prepared to accommodate late admissions and provide support to students who join us later.”
As the academic community awaits clarity, the delay in CUET UG results continues to pose challenges, impacting both the educational institutions and the students eager to commence their undergraduate studies.
