Two days after his swearing-in at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Jaishankar detailed his ministry’s roadmap in an interview, focusing on India’s quest for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council and relations with China and Pakistan.

Jaishankar emphasized the growing influence of India under PM Modi’s leadership, particularly in supporting the Global South during crises. He highlighted India’s successful advocacy for the African Union’s G20 membership, reflecting the world’s trust in India. He expressed confidence in India’s rising global identity.

Addressing China’s border issues, Jaishankar stated, “Our focus with regard to China will be on finding a solution for the border issues.” On Pakistan, he stressed the need to resolve long-standing cross-border terrorism.

He lauded the ministry’s past performance and expressed honor in leading it again. Jaishankar articulated the government’s aim to position India as ‘Vishwa Bandhu,’ a trusted country amid global conflicts. He assured that India’s prestige, influence, and interests would be advanced.

Post-swearing-in, PM Modi met several international leaders, reiterating India’s commitment to amplifying the Global South’s voice. Modi emphasized India’s Neighbourhood First policy, focusing on regional peace, progress, and prosperity.
