Telangana Student Shot Dead in US Store Robbery

In a tragic incident, 27-year-old Gampa Praveen from Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district was shot dead in Milwaukee, US, during a store robbery. Praveen, who had gone to the US for higher studies, was pursuing his second year of MS while working part-time at the store when the fatal shooting occurred early Wednesday.

His father, Raghavulu, recalled receiving a missed call from his son at 5 AM but was unable to answer. “I later sent him a voice message, but when he didn’t respond, I grew worried. When I called back, someone else answered, which raised my suspicions,” he said. He later learned through his son’s friends that Praveen had been shot during the robbery.

The devastated family is now seeking government intervention to bring Praveen’s body back to India for final rites. The Indian community in the US has also urged authorities to take strict action against the perpetrators.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the growing concerns over the safety of international students working part-time jobs in the US. The Indian government is in touch with authorities in the US to ensure swift action and necessary assistance for the family.
