Khalistani Extremists Attempt to Attack EAM S. Jaishankar in London, Tear Indian Flag
  • PublishedMarch 6, 2025

During his official visit to the United Kingdom, India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar faced an attempted security breach by Khalistani extremists. The incident occurred outside Chatham House, where Jaishankar had been participating in a discussion. As he was leaving, a protester rushed towards his car and tore the Indian national flag in front of police officers. The attacker, along with other extremists shouting pro-Khalistani slogans, was later detained by authorities.

Videos of the incident circulating online show initial hesitation from the police before they intervened. Another video captures a group of extremists protesting outside the venue, attempting to disrupt Jaishankar’s engagement.

The minister’s visit, scheduled from March 4 to 9, included extensive discussions at Chevening House with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy. Talks covered strategic coordination, political cooperation, trade negotiations, technology, and people-to-people exchanges.

During his address at Chatham House, Jaishankar firmly rejected third-party mediation on the Kashmir issue. He reaffirmed India’s position, stating that the country had taken decisive steps, including the abrogation of Article 370 and fostering economic development. Addressing territorial concerns, he stated, “The unresolved part of the issue is the return of the stolen part of Kashmir, which is under illegal Pakistani occupation.”

Indian authorities have condemned the security breach and urged stronger action against extremist elements disrupting diplomatic engagements.
