Wasim Akram Slams Pakistan’s Performance in Champions Trophy 2025 Loss to India

Pakistan’s cricket team faced a humiliating exit from the Champions Trophy 2025 after a crushing defeat to India, followed by an early elimination from the tournament. Former captain Wasim Akram has strongly criticized the team, calling for immediate changes.
Speaking on the post-match show Dressing Room, Akram expressed frustration over Pakistan’s outdated approach to white-ball cricket. “Drastic steps are needed. We are playing archaic cricket while the game has evolved. We need fearless, young players. If it takes five or six changes, do it,” he stated.
Akram particularly pointed out Pakistan’s struggling bowling unit, revealing shocking statistics. “In the last five ODIs, Pakistan bowlers have taken only 24 wickets at an average of 60—worse than Oman and USA,” he lamented.
He also mocked the team’s diet choices during the match, saying, “Even monkeys don’t eat so many bananas,” recalling how a leader like Imran Khan would have never tolerated such habits.
With Pakistan’s last major title dating back to 2017, Akram urged selectors to start rebuilding immediately for the 2026 T20 World Cup. “Keep losing for six months, but build a strong team,” he asserted.
Pakistan’s early exit marks a new low in its cricket history, reinforcing the urgent need for change.
