Atishi and 11 AAP MLAs Suspended Amid Delhi Assembly Uproar Over CAG Report

In a turbulent session of the Delhi Assembly today, Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended 12 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi and senior member Gopal Rai, for the day. The suspensions followed disruptive protests during Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s address, as AAP legislators vociferously opposed the tabling of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report concerning the previous government’s now-defunct liquor policy.
Despite multiple appeals for order, the MLAs continued their protest, leading Speaker Gupta to order their removal from the assembly premises. The suspended members include Atishi, Gopal Rai, Veer Singh Dhingan, Mukesh Ahlawat, Chaudhary Zubair Ahmed, Anil Jha, Vishesh Ravi, and Jarnail Singh.
Following her suspension, Atishi addressed the media, alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government had disrespected Dr. BR Ambedkar by replacing his portrait with that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Chief Minister’s office. She stated, “By removing Babasaheb Ambedkar’s portrait, the BJP has revealed its real stance.
