Pakistan on High Alert Over ISKP Kidnap Plot at ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau has issued a security alert regarding a potential Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) plot to kidnap foreign nationals during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Intelligence reports indicate that ISKP operatives are conducting surveillance at key locations, specifically targeting Chinese and Arab visitors.

The group reportedly plans to use rented properties in city outskirts as safe houses, avoiding areas with camera surveillance. To evade security forces, kidnapped individuals would be moved between locations under the cover of night using motorcycles and rickshaws.

The warning comes amid growing concerns over Pakistan’s ability to secure international events. Past attacks, including the 2009 Sri Lankan cricket team ambush in Lahore and the 2024 attack on Chinese engineers in Shangla, have raised doubts about security measures.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s intelligence agency (GDI) has also warned of potential ISKP attacks and is tracking missing operatives linked to the group.
