Fading Hope for Telangana Tunnel Survivors as Rescue Efforts Intensify

Rescue operations continue at the collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel, where eight individuals remain trapped since Saturday. Officials report that 40 meters remain to reach the victims, but hopes of survival are fading.

Nagarkurnool District Collector B Santosh stated that two rescue teams from the Army and NDRF are deploying advanced machinery to navigate the final stretch. Minister Jupally Krishna Rao acknowledged the slim chances of survival but reaffirmed that all possible efforts are being made. Among the trapped are four laborers, two company employees, and two international workers.

A team of expert rat miners, known for their success in Uttarakhand’s Silkyara Bend-Barkot tunnel rescue, has joined the mission. Authorities are using micro-cameras and endoscopic devices to pinpoint the workers’ exact location. Efforts to dewater and remove debris are ongoing.

Meanwhile, other workers at the site have protested unpaid wages and unsafe conditions, refusing to return to work.
