Yogi Adityanath Dismisses Water Contamination Claims, Calls Opposition Allegations Baseless

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has firmly rejected reports of water contamination at Prayagraj’s Sangam, asserting that the Ganga remains fit for drinking and bathing during the ongoing Maha Kumbh. Addressing the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, he cited a recent Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPCB) report, which confirmed that the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) level was below 3 mg/litre, and the Dissolved Oxygen (DO) level had significantly improved.
His statement follows a Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) report that raised concerns over ‘faecal coliform’ bacteria in the river. However, Adityanath dismissed these findings as propaganda aimed at tarnishing the Maha Kumbh’s sanctity.
Highlighting the massive turnout, he revealed that over 56.25 crore devotees have already taken a holy dip and praised the arrangements. “Spreading misinformation about Sanatan Dharma, Maa Ganga, and Maha Kumbh is an attack on the faith of millions,” he remarked.
Taking aim at opposition leaders, Adityanath slammed Samajwadi Party, Lalu Prasad Yadav, and Mamata Banerjee for questioning the event’s significance. He criticized their remarks, emphasizing that his government remains committed to upholding Sanatan traditions.
Dismissing allegations of mismanagement, the BJP leader reaffirmed that the Maha Kumbh, happening after 144 years, is being organized with the highest standards of safety and devotion.
