Actor Saif Ali Khan was injured during an attempted robbery at his Bandra residence in Mumbai during the early hours of Thursday. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital at 3:30 am, where he underwent surgery and is currently recovering. His wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their sons, Taimur and Jeh, were home during the incident but are unharmed.
The intruder reportedly entered the building through the back entrance, climbed 12 flights of stairs, and accessed the apartment through the house help’s quarters. A scuffle ensued between Saif and the intruder as the actor attempted to protect his family, resulting in injuries to his arm and six stab wounds, two of which were deep. One injury was dangerously close to his spine. The house help also sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
Dr. Jalil Parkar of Lilavati Hospital stated, “Saif Ali Khan was admitted with six stab injuries. He is being treated by a team of specialists led by neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange.”
Kareena Kapoor Khan’s team released a statement confirming the family’s safety and requested privacy. “We request media and fans to refrain from speculation as the police are actively investigating the matter.”
Mumbai Police’s DCP Zone 9, Dixit Gedam, confirmed the incident and stated that efforts to identify and apprehend the intruder are ongoing.
