The Delhi High Court on Monday expressed strong disapproval of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government for delaying the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. Justice Sachin Datta, presiding over the matter, stated that the government’s actions raised concerns about its intentions and transparency.
“The way you have dragged your feet raises doubts about your bona fides. You should have promptly forwarded the reports to the Speaker and initiated a discussion in the House,” observed the single-judge bench.
The court criticized the government’s delay in submitting the CAG reports to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and its subsequent handling of the matter. It emphasized the importance of timely communication and accountability, particularly when it involves presenting reports to the Assembly for discussion.
The court further noted that the delay appeared to be an attempt to prevent the Assembly session from taking place, urging the government to act in good faith to uphold democratic principles.
This development has raised significant questions regarding procedural lapses and governance practices in Delhi. The AAP government has yet to issue an official response to the court’s remarks.
This is a developing story, and updates will follow as further details emerge.
