As Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai re-releases in theaters today to celebrate its silver jubilee, veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan shared his reflections on the film that launched his son, Hrithik Roshan, into stardom. The re-release coincides with Hrithik’s 51st birthday, making the occasion even more special for fans.
In an exclusive interview, Rakesh Roshan recalled the challenging time surrounding the film’s original release in 2000. While Hrithik basked in the success of his debut, Rakesh Roshan faced a life-threatening incident when he was shot by the mafia just days after the film’s premiere. “Hrithik had to manage immense attention on his own, while I was hospitalized. It was a tough period for our family, but by God’s grace, I recovered, and our journey since has been remarkable,” he shared.
The film, which also marked Ameesha Patel’s debut, became an instant classic, earning immense acclaim for its story, music, and Hrithik’s stellar performance. On its enduring legacy, Rakesh Roshan expressed joy, saying, “It’s incredible that Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai still resonates with audiences, including younger generations discovering it on the big screen.”
Fans can now relive the magic of this iconic film at PVR INOX theaters, starting January 10. The re-release follows the success of Rakesh Roshan’s Karan Arjun revival, reaffirming his timeless contributions to Indian cinema.
