Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh Passes Away at 92

With profound grief, we announce the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, at the age of 92. He passed away on Thursday evening at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, due to age-related medical conditions.

Dr. Singh experienced a sudden loss of consciousness at his residence earlier in the evening. Despite immediate resuscitative efforts at home and advanced medical intervention at AIIMS, he was declared dead at 9:51 PM.

Serving as Prime Minister for two terms from 2004 to 2014, Dr. Singh was a distinguished economist and the architect of India’s economic liberalization. His tenure as Finance Minister and later as Prime Minister left a transformative impact on the nation’s economic and social policies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, praising Dr. Singh’s humility, wisdom, and contributions to governance. “India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders,” PM Modi said.

Dr. Singh is survived by his wife, Gurcharan Singh, and three daughters. Senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, rushed to AIIMS upon learning of his hospitalization.
