The Telangana government has declined a funding offer of Rs 100 crore from the Adani Group intended for the development of the Young India Skills University, a project aimed at equipping the state’s youth with industry-specific skills.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the decision during a press briefing, stating that the state government would not accept any funding or donations for the university from any external organizations, including the Adani Group.
“The Telangana government has not taken any funds or donations for the Young India Skills University from any organisation, including Adani. We have officially communicated to the Adani Group that we will not be accepting the Rs 100 crore funding promised for the university,” said CM Revanth Reddy.
This decision comes in the wake of allegations by US prosecutors, accusing Gautam Adani and seven others of paying bribes to Indian government officials to secure solar power contracts. While the Adani Group has denied any wrongdoing, the Telangana government has emphasized its commitment to maintaining transparency and integrity in its developmental initiatives.
The Young India Skills University is a flagship initiative of the Telangana government designed to enhance employment opportunities and bridge the skill gap among young professionals. The state plans to independently fund the project to ensure its autonomy and accountability.
