10 Maoists Killed in Chhattisgarh Encounter as Security Forces Tighten Grip

In a major operation against Maoists, security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district killed at least 10 insurgents on Friday. The encounter occurred in the dense jungles of Korajuguda, Dantewada, Nagaram, and Bhandarpadar.

The District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) led the mission, which followed intelligence about Maoist movements in the area. Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sunderaj P stated that weapons, including AK-47s, INSAS rifles, and SLRs, were recovered during the operation. While the search is ongoing, the identification of the slain Maoists remains pending.

This operation follows another recent exchange of fire on Thursday in Odisha’s Malakangiri district, near the Chhattisgarh border, which resulted in one Maoist’s death.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss strategies for combating Maoist insurgency and fostering development in affected areas. Sai highlighted the state’s significant progress, citing the elimination of nearly 200 Maoists and the surrender of 600-700 others in the past year.

The Chief Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to achieving a Naxal-free India by March 2026, aligning with the Union Home Minister’s vision.

With operations intensifying, Chhattisgarh continues its relentless drive to uproot Maoist activities and restore stability in the region.
