Massive Drug Seizure: Over 700 kg Methamphetamine Recovered from Iranian Boat Near Gujarat.
In a significant joint operation, the Indian Navy, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Gujarat Police intercepted an Iranian boat off the Porbandar coast on Friday, seizing over 700 kg of methamphetamine. The operation, initiated Thursday evening after suspicious activity was detected near the International Maritime Boundary Line, led to the arrest of eight Iranian nationals involved in the drug smuggling racket.
This high-stakes mission highlights India’s ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking along its maritime borders. Officials reported that the confiscated methamphetamine holds a market value in the hundreds of crores, marking it as one of the largest drug busts in the region.
This operation follows a series of recent successful anti-drug actions in Gujarat. On October 29, seven individuals were arrested at Ahmedabad airport for attempting to smuggle 1.75 kg of hybrid marijuana worth ₹2.11 crore from Thailand. Earlier, on October 13, a joint operation by the Delhi Police and Gujarat Police uncovered 518 kg of cocaine worth ₹5,000 crore from Aavkar Drugs Limited in Ankleshwar city.
These coordinated efforts underscore India’s determination to dismantle international drug networks targeting its borders. Authorities have intensified surveillance across land, sea, and air, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding the nation from drug-related crimes.
Further investigations are underway to determine the origins and intended recipients of the seized methamphetamine, with officials promising strict action against all involved.
