Advocate Arrested for Issuing Death Threat and Extortion Demand to Shah Rukh Khan.
In a significant development, Chhattisgarh-based advocate Faizan Khan was arrested by Mumbai Police on Tuesday for allegedly issuing a death threat and demanding a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The Bandra police station received the threat call last week, after which an extortion case was registered following a complaint by the actor.
The investigation led the police to Raipur, Chhattisgarh, where Khan was taken into custody. Faizan Khan had initially informed the police that he would come to Mumbai on November 14 to provide his statement but later requested a virtual statement due to safety concerns, citing recent threats he had received.
Khan alleged that the call was a setup, claiming his phone was lost on November 2 and that he had filed a missing phone complaint. He stated that he had previously lodged a complaint against Khan at the Bandra police station, accusing the actor of causing enmity between religious groups, citing scenes from the 1993 film Anjaam.
Faizan, a member of the Bishnoi community known for its protection of wildlife, expressed that his actions were rooted in his cultural beliefs. The arrest adds to the growing list of security concerns for Shah Rukh Khan, who received Y+ level security last year after a similar threat.
