Hindus in Canada Protest Against Khalistani Attack on Brampton Temple
  • PublishedNovember 5, 2024

Following a violent attack on the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton by Khalistani extremists, over a thousand members of the Canadian Hindu community gathered on Tuesday to protest escalating violence against Hindus. Organized by the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA), the peaceful rally aimed to demand safety, accountability, and a halt to what the group calls rising “Hinduphobia” in Canada.

The protest, held outside one of Canada’s largest temples, reflected the growing sense of vulnerability among Canadian Hindus. During the rally, participants called on Canadian politicians and law enforcement to stop supporting Khalistani extremists. The recent attack on multiple Hindu temples, including those during Diwali, sparked further outrage.

The incident was widely condemned by Canadian politicians, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, and several MPs. Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also criticized the violence, with Modi labeling the attack a “deliberate” act and urging Canadian authorities to prosecute the perpetrators.

The rally highlighted tensions between the Hindu and Khalistani communities in Canada, with calls for swift action to protect Hindus from further targeted attacks.
