As air quality worsens in Delhi, the AAP government has introduced drone surveillance to monitor pollution in the city’s 13 worst-affected areas. Environment minister Gopal Rai announced that drones will be deployed to capture images of pollution sources, starting with the Wazirpur industrial area. The gathered data will help the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) take targeted action.
Amid rising public complaints about health issues due to pollution, Delhi’s AQI hit 283 on Friday, with several locations seeing even worse levels. The government has also implemented a winter action plan and is using Civil Defence Volunteers to curb pollution. Stubble burning in neighboring Punjab continues to add to the capital’s pollution woes.
