More than 25 domestic and international flights operated by Indian carriers received bomb threats on Friday, creating widespread disruptions. Airlines including IndiGo, Vistara, SpiceJet, and Air India were affected, with seven flights from each of the first three carriers and six Air India flights receiving threats.
Among the targeted flights were IndiGo’s Kozhikode to Dammam and Delhi to Istanbul routes. An IndiGo Udaipur-Delhi flight was redirected to an isolation bay before takeoff following a threat, and passengers were safely disembarked. In the past 12 days, over 275 flights operated by Indian carriers have been threatened.
In response, the Indian government has directed social media companies, including Meta and X, to cooperate in identifying those responsible for the hoax threats, which have caused delays, diversions, and emergency responses.
