Kamala Harris Launches ‘Opportunity Agenda for Black Men’ Ahead of US Elections.

Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris has unveiled the “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men,” a comprehensive plan aimed at addressing the economic and social challenges faced by Black men in the US. With the elections just weeks away, Harris introduced the agenda during a visit to Erie, Pennsylvania, a key battleground state.

The Opportunity Agenda focuses on empowering Black men by promoting wealth-building, lowering costs, and ensuring their rights are protected. “Black men and boys deserve a president who sees them and helps break the barriers preventing them from achieving their aspirations,” Harris said. She emphasized that Donald Trump has failed to support Black communities and warned of increased threats if he is re-elected.

Key components of the agenda include:

Forgivable loans of up to $20,000 for one million Black entrepreneurs and innovators.
Launching a National Health Equity Initiative focused on improving health outcomes for Black men.
Legalizing marijuana federally to dismantle discriminatory legal barriers.
Implementing a ban on corporate price-gouging for essential goods to lower costs.
Expanding homeownership opportunities with down payment assistance and rental cost reductions.
At the rally, Harris criticized Trump’s history with Black communities, highlighting his past discriminatory practices and opposition to civil rights.

Former President Barack Obama has endorsed Harris’s agenda, sharing on X: “Kamala Harris has a plan to lift up Black men and their families.”

While recent polls show Harris has strong support from Black voters, many remain cautiously optimistic about the change she can bring.
