In an exclusive interview, Ananya Panday opens up about her recent projects, all of which tackle the dark side of modern technology. From social media addiction to data leaks, her roles reflect issues impacting Gen Z.
Ananya starred in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, a Netflix film where she plays a character addicted to both her ex-boyfriend and Instagram. In Call Me Bae on Prime Video, she portrays a social media influencer turned journalist uncovering a data leak racket. Her newest project, CTRL, a Netflix screenlife thriller, features her as a content creator using AI to erase memories of her ex, only to have the AI take control.
Ananya shared her excitement about scripts finally addressing these modern issues. “These are current issues, it’s what’s happening. Years later, people will look at these films and say, ‘That’s how our generation was.’”
Ananya, who admits she still uses Instagram often, says her projects have made her more aware of the dangers. She emphasizes the importance of being cautious about online privacy, encouraging others to “be aware” of what they’re signing up for. She adds practical advice like enabling double password protection and avoiding suspicious links—except for her trailer link, she jokes.
Her transition from commercial films to thought-provoking roles highlights her versatility as an actor.
