The United States has reiterated its unwavering support for Israel following a massive Iranian missile strike involving over 180 ballistic missiles. The coordinated attack, launched by Iran on Tuesday, was intercepted with the joint efforts of the US and Israeli military forces, preventing significant damage and casualties.
President Joe Biden emphasized the US’s firm backing of Israel, stating, “The United States is fully, fully, fully supportive of Israel.” The US military played a crucial role in defending Israel, deploying two Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, USS Cole and USS Bulkeley, which launched interceptors against the barrage of Iranian missiles.
President Biden, alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, monitored the situation closely from the White House Situation Room. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan called the Iranian attack a “significant escalation” and warned of “severe consequences.”
US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin communicated with Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant multiple times before and during the attack, ensuring real-time coordination.
The Pentagon confirmed that many of the Iranian missiles were intercepted, with both Israeli and US missile defence systems working in tandem. This coordinated response successfully thwarted the attack, and US forces remain poised to defend Israel from further threats.
The joint operation underscores the US’s ironclad commitment to Israel’s defence, as both nations continue to monitor and respond to emerging threats in the region.
