Alakh Pandey, the 32-year-old founder of Physics Wallah, has been named in the Hurun List of top young entrepreneurs under 35, cementing his status as a transformative figure in India’s EdTech space. From humble beginnings as a tutor in Prayagraj, Pandey has built a $2.8 billion education empire, redefining how students learn in the digital age.
Pandey launched his now-iconic YouTube channel, “Physics Wallah”, in 2016, driven by his passion for teaching and a desire to make quality education accessible. What began as a modest effort quickly gained momentum, leading to the launch of the Physics Wallah app in 2018, which attracted over 35,000 users in its first few days.
During the pandemic, Physics Wallah became a lifeline for millions of students turning to online education. By 2022, the platform had achieved unicorn status, and today boasts 31 million subscribers and 180 offline centres across 105 cities.
Pandey’s success has not gone unnoticed. In addition to his recent Hurun recognition, he has earned multiple accolades, including the Times’ 40 Under 40. Despite his meteoric rise, Alakh remains dedicated to empowering students and improving education access across India.
With continued backing from prominent investors, Physics Wallah is poised to expand even further, proving that passion, perseverance, and innovation can transform education.
