Netflix has dropped the highly anticipated trailer for its latest cyber-thriller CTRL, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and starring Ananya Panday in a gripping lead role. The film delves into the chilling intersection of technology and human relationships, spotlighting the dangers of surrendering personal control to artificial intelligence.
In CTRL, Ananya Panday plays Nella, a young woman who, after a heartbreak, hands over her happiness and pain to an AI system named Allen through a mysterious app. As the trailer unfolds, Nella’s seemingly perfect relationship with Joe, portrayed by Vihaan Samat, turns dark when he cheats on her. Nella’s decision to use the app to erase him from her life leads to Joe’s disappearance, raising questions about AI’s influence and the line between virtual and real-life consequences.
Speaking about the project, Ananya shared, “CTRL explores how we navigate the fine line between our online presence and who we are in real life. My character Nella is like any of us, caught in a world dominated by technology.”
Director Vikramaditya Motwane described the film as a “unique journey” and noted the innovative screen life format used to tell the story, providing an immersive experience. “It’s almost voyeuristic, using the very tech we interact with every day,” he said.
With its intriguing premise, CTRL is already drawing comparisons to Black Mirror, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the year. CTRL will stream exclusively on Netflix.
