During a high-profile roundtable meeting with global technology leaders in New York, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged tech giants to advance their contributions to India, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI). Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, highlighted the PM’s emphasis on using AI to benefit India’s people across sectors like healthcare, education, and agriculture.

Following the meeting, Sundar Pichai stated, “PM Modi’s vision for Digital India continues to inspire us. He pushed us to keep designing and manufacturing in India, and we are proud to now have our Pixel phones made here.” Pichai underscored the alignment between Google’s initiatives and India’s ambitions for AI-driven development.

“Prime Minister Modi’s leadership is focused on harnessing AI to serve India’s population and infrastructure,” Pichai added. He also mentioned Google’s significant investments in AI expansion in India, with several ongoing partnerships aimed at fostering growth and technological advancement.

The roundtable meeting, held at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel during PM Modi’s U.S. visit, included notable leaders such as IBM CEO Arvind Krishna and Moderna Chairman Noubar Afeyan. PM Modi expressed optimism in a post on X, saying, “Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing aspects relating to technology, innovation, and more. Glad to see immense optimism towards India.”

This meeting reaffirmed India’s global tech aspirations and its growing role as a hub for technological innovation.
