Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New York for the UN Summit of the Future, following a key Quad Leaders’ summit in Wilmington, Delaware. During the Quad meeting, Modi, alongside U.S. President Joe Biden, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, and Japanese PM Fumio Kishida, discussed strategic issues, including the Indo-Pacific region’s stability. The leaders strongly condemned China’s aggressive actions in the South China Sea and reaffirmed their commitment to a rules-based international order.
The Quad also issued the Wilmington Declaration, emphasizing collaboration on marine security, technology, and a two-state solution for the Israel-Palestine conflict. Modi stressed that Quad is not aimed at any one nation, but is a partnership for maintaining international law and sovereignty. He expressed his eagerness to host the next Quad summit in India.
PM Modi’s packed schedule included bilateral meetings with President Biden and other Quad leaders, discussing deepening ties and regional stability. He also attended President Biden’s Cancer Moonshot event, supporting efforts to screen for cervical cancer in the Indo-Pacific.
Modi will address the Indian diaspora in New York on September 22 and participate in the UN Summit of the Future on September 23. The event underscores India’s growing influence on the global stage, as PM Modi continues to strengthen partnerships and promote peace, stability, and development worldwide.
