Amul Files Complaint Against False Social Media Claims Linking It to Tirupati Laddoos Row.
  • PublishedSeptember 21, 2024

Amul has filed an official complaint with the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police Station in response to false allegations circulating on social media, claiming that the company supplied ghee used in the controversial Tirupati temple laddoos. These false claims have been linked to the recent controversy regarding the presence of animal fat in the laddoos offered as prasadam at the Tirupati temple.

The complaint highlights that misleading posts were deliberately spread on social media to damage Amul’s reputation. Amul clarified that it has never supplied ghee to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) Managing Director Jayen Mehta stated, “Amul is owned by 3.6 million farmers’ families, and this misinformation could harm their livelihoods. Our ghee is of the highest quality, and we have never supplied products to Tirupati Devasthanam.”

Amul has taken legal action to halt the spread of this misinformation and has actively used its social media platforms to issue public clarifications. The company reiterated its commitment to quality and transparency, emphasizing that it has been delivering premium ghee to consumers for years.

This legal step follows the statements made by political figures, including Chandrababu Naidu, who alleged that substandard ingredients, including animal fat, were used in Tirupati laddoos. Amul strongly denies any involvement in this controversy and seeks to protect its brand and the livelihoods of its farmers.
