Kareena Kapoor Khan’s debut as a producer, The Buckingham Murders, saw a modest growth in box office collections on Day 2. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the film opened with ₹1.62 crore nett in India and witnessed a slight increase on its second day, earning ₹2.41 crore. This brought the total to ₹4.03 crore nett.
The film, released on September 13, 2024, in both Hindi-English and a Hindi-dubbed version, faced a slow start despite its festival buzz. Competing with holdover hits like Stree 2 and Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT, it still managed to find its audience, though the strong competition could explain its gradual box office rise.
In The Buckingham Murders, Kareena Kapoor portrays a grieving mother caught up in a murder mystery. Critics have praised Hansal Mehta’s direction, highlighting his ability to balance the film’s emotional depth and suspenseful plot. A review noted, “Mehta’s grip on the story is impeccable, and he brilliantly showcases grief through Kareena Kapoor’s transformation, making her performance deeply resonant.”
The film features an ensemble cast including Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. It is co-written by Aseem Arrora, Kashyap Kapoor, and Raghav Raj Kakker. The Buckingham Murders is jointly produced by Mahana Films and TBM Films in collaboration with Balaji Telefilms. Along with Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor, the film marks Kareena’s debut as a producer.
