Teenager Mistaken for Cattle Smuggler, Killed by Vigilantes in Faridabad

A tragic incident unfolded in Faridabad as a 19-year-old Class 12 student, Aryan Mishra, was mistakenly identified as a cattle smuggler and killed by cow vigilantes on the night of August 23. The incident shocked the community and led to the arrest of five individuals involved in the crime.

Aryan and his friends Harshit and Shanky were driving in a Duster SUV late at night when they were signalled to stop by a group of vigilantes. Fearing the encounter was related to a previous dispute, the group sped away, prompting the vigilantes to pursue them for 25 kilometres. The chase culminated in a fatal shooting at the Palwal toll plaza, where a bullet struck Aryan. Despite pulling over, the attackers approached and fired a second shot into Aryan’s chest, resulting in his death.

The suspects, identified as Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh, and Saurav, have been arrested by Faridabad Police. The weapon used in the crime was recovered from Anil Kaushik’s residence after an initial attempt to mislead the authorities.

This incident follows another case of violence by cow vigilantes in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri district, where a migrant worker was beaten to death over suspicions of consuming beef.

Faridabad Police are continuing their investigation into the case, and the community is urged to remain calm as justice is sought for Aryan Mishra’s untimely death.
